The authors of these children's poems were prominent writers of Yiddish literature in Poland in the interwar years. Poems will be published in the original Yiddish and in Polish. Both the content and the illustrations will present important elements of Jewish tradition. Poems contained in the publication will help the child to explore the Jewish world and to shape new ideas and concepts about Judaism. Through rhymes that are read aloud, children will learn to understand the importance of Jewish terms, contributing to an overall picture of Jewish life, and will learn phrases and definitions in an enjoyable way. Written in a form easily understood by children, this book will transmit cultural material and a rich tradition of universal moral values cherished for centuries by their Jewish ancestors. Learning about Jewish history in a world of children's stories will give the child a sense of rootedness in the culture and a sense of belonging to it, and consequently, a respect for its wealth and achievements.
